Club History

Introduction

The Fury Basketball Club, formally known as Falcon Fury, commenced in 2012 with assistance from Jason Chalk of Mandurah Basketball Association and Julie Murray, the first club President. It started with teams that formed with students from Falcon coached by passionate volunteers such as Kaz Salter.

The first sign-on day was held on the weekend of the 15th and 16th September 2012. The club entered teams from Year 6 through to Veterans in 2012-13 Summer Domestic Season.

An inaugural Annual General Meeting was held on 16th October 2012 at the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre.

The club grew rapidly expanding in 2013 and 2014 so that almost every age group and division contained a Fury team. In 2015 the club was equally the biggest domestic club in Mandurah.

On the 24 July 2016 the club name changed from Falcon Fury Basketball Club to Fury Basketball Club to make the name more inclusive of other suburbs. This was part of the current committees effort to develop a new, brighter more dynamic and modern image for the club.

The club also became incorporated and changed the club logo and uniform in 2016.

History of the Number of Teams

2015-16 was the first year that the club had teams in every division of the summer domestic competition run by Mandurah Basketball Association. 2017-18 saw a growth in 14 & Under and 16& Under Boys teams and 18& Under Girls teams. There was a drop in girls team particularly in the 16& Under and the Women's.

After steady growth in them 2017-18 saw a drop in the number of female teams for the first time.
